Reflective horsemanship™

Rider Biomechanics Clinic

Hello!

I'd like to thank you for your interest in my Rider Biomechanics Clinic.

As a coach, I’m always interested in how different riders approach learning our sport, in deference to, let’s say, golfers or tennis players.

You always hear about golfers working on their swing, and tennis players working on their serve.

They are the best in the world, and they are still working on their technique.

But rarely do you hear about riders working on their skills. You hear about their horses coming up to grand prix or working on flying changes, but never about the rider’s training.

Reflective Horsemanship™ peels back the layers of equestrian sport to uncover the what, where, when, why and ‘how to’ of riding. It is a systematic approach to rider development that will help any rider, in any discipline, to improve.

The goal of my rider training system is to produce a horse and rider team that is graceful, fluid, and balanced, all the while performing tasks in harmony and lightness.

Many riders struggle with the same elusive goals year after year, only to experience the same difficulties.

Don’t let this be you!

I present a series of foundational building blocks that focus on creating a balanced and functional rider that is capable of riding any horse in any style of riding.

My unique approach to training horse and rider is rooted in the classical principles and is fully consistent with equine and human biomechanics.

Integrating the best horsemanship ethics and teaching principles,  I place specific emphasis on what riders need in order to become an effective and efficient partner, thereby, directly improving the horse.

Applying Rider Biomechanics, you will learn:

1. How to achieve a safe and secure riding position.

2. Gain a better understanding of what you are doing in your body, to become a more effective rider.

3. Exercises to help you break old negative patterns.

4. How to align your seat and posture with your horse, despite any physical issues that you might have, as     well as how to assure you maintain a balanced and functional position.

When you integrate Rider Biomechanics to riding:

1. He finds it easier to carry you which promotes soundness, longevity, and a willing and happy partner.

2. You find it easier to ride and match the forces created by your horse.

3. Then you find it easier to influence the horse every stride.

Biomechanics

Why are biomechanics important?

The short answer is that biomechanics can help us make sure our horse is as comfortable as possible when being ridden, and that they have a long and healthy ridden career, as well as ensuring that us riders are as balanced and easy to carry as possible.

Rider biomechanics is an important part of what I teach riders.

With such a fancy name, it might sound like something you don’t need, however, if you love your horse, you’ll want to hear this...

Rider biomechanics looks at how the horse and rider move - by themselves and in relation to each other. It looks at the tilts, twists and wiggles we all do and how they can be worked on to create better harmony between horse and rider.
